Easter 2022 – Dancing Shoes

Time for a celebration as we resume our courses after two years of Covid restrictions.

We will be celebrating several birthdays and anniversaries of some famous composers whose tunes are associated with dancing!

Here’s a preview:

Hungarian Dance #5

Let’s start with Johannes Brahms’s most famous tune:

Entracte Music from “Rosamunde”

This is from the incidental music to accompany a play premiered in 1823. We will play the Andantino of the 3rd Entracte.

A fabulous piece from the Argentinian master Astor Piazzolla. Maybe the parents will want to dance in front of the band…

Belgian Jazz harmonica and guitar player giant Toots Thielemans would have been 100 years old this year. Let’s remember him with a Jazz waltz of his.

Goodbye Pork Pie Hat

Not a dance but the tribute tune from another birthday boy, double bass virtuoso Charles Mingus to Jazz Legend Lester young.

Fables of Faubus (Harlem)

Below is the late French Jazz master Claude Nougaro putting words to a Mingus tune
