Easter 2023 – Once upon a time in West London

Yeeeee-ha! Time to saddle up cowboy and explore some Wild West music!

Can you tell your “Quadrille” from your “Hoe Down”? Look below to find out more. No gambling, no hanging, no firewater but a whole load of fun expected!

The Good, the bad and the ugly

Arguably the most popular Wild West movie music theme with his infectious score by Ennio Morricone. We will recreate the spaghetti western epic. Here’s how the Danes do it!

The Magnificent Seven

Another classic movie with a bunch of movie stars of the day. Punchy, powerful and lyrical, the music by Elmer Bernstein will be with for weeks! Here’s how they ride at the Albert Hall!

William Tell

Rossini’s famous overture was composed in 1828, nearly 200 years ago and is the main them of the TV show “the lone ranger”.

Rango

This has got to be one of the worst movie marketing in history as this jewel of a film from Gore Verbinsky (who went on to direct the first three of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies and the aformentioned “Lone Ranger”) went completely under the radar. The animation is splendid and the music isn’t bad either!

Hoe Dow from “Rodeo”

Aaron Copland wrote the ballet music of the ballet “Rodeo” in 1942 and the frantic “Hoe Down” is the 5th and final movement.

We won’t stretch as far as Emerson, Lake and Palmer did when they recorded they cover or “Hoe Down” but we’ll use their tongue in cheek quote to another jazz piece of the same name….How’s that for music appreciation?
